The story of Vegas Valley Baseball began long before online registration, social media, and tournament apps.
For decades, Southern Nevada baseball families have gathered around events that became traditions. The Veterans Day Challenge. The Cranberry Classic. Weekends at the ballpark that brought players, coaches, and families together year after year.
Those traditions were carried forward by Dave Ruegge and Carol Ruegge, who dedicated decades to serving the Southern Nevada baseball community.
Dave’s involvement in local baseball dates back to 1991, when he began Vegas Valley Umpires. Carol later joined him, and together their impact on baseball throughout the Las Vegas Valley continued to grow.
From umpire development to tournament baseball, Dave and Carol helped carry forward some of Southern Nevada’s longest-running baseball traditions while building new opportunities for teams and families.
In 2009, Vegas Valley Baseball was formally established as a home for baseball in Southern Nevada and over the years, Vegas Valley grew beyond tournaments. Leagues, training, umpire development, and community-focused events became part of a larger baseball network built around one simple idea:
Serve the game and the people who play it.
THE NEXT CHAPTER
In October 2022, Vegas Valley Baseball entered a new chapter when John Pashales took over the organization. The goal was never to erase the history of Vegas Valley or simply put a new logo on an old organization. It was to protect what had been built, honor the traditions that generations of Southern Nevada baseball families had grown up with, and find new ways to move the game forward.
In July 2023, Dave Ruegge passed away.
His impact on Southern Nevada baseball continues through the umpires he helped develop, the events he helped grow, and the countless players, coaches, and families who crossed paths with Vegas Valley Baseball.
Today, Vegas Valley Baseball continues to evolve and we are creating unforgettable events, building competitive, and developmental leagues, expanding camps and player development opportunities, supporting meaningful causes and welcoming teams from across the region to experience baseball in Southern Nevada.
Our vision is bigger than running tournaments! We are building Southern Nevada into a true baseball destination.
The game has changed.... The Valley has grown.... But the purpose remains the same.
